Cork Flooring
Cork Flooring has been used as a flooring material for more than a hundred years due to its durability,
resistance to moisture damage, and acoustical and thermal insulation properties. A typical tree provides
hundreds of pounds of cork at each harvesting and survives the harvest, which happens approximately every nine years.
There are many styles and patterns to choose from. They are available as unfinished or prefinished with carnauba
wax or polyurethane. The tiles are glued down to a subfloor and are suitable in any room in the house. Floating floor
planks are glued to one another and contain a medium density fiberboard sandwiched between two layers of cork which
can swell as a result of water and moisture. Solid cork does not absorb moisture because it consists of many air filled
cells so is a good choice for kitchens and bathrooms.
